Message from President of POA

MAY 2026

In an ongoing effort to help the community further understand the function of the board, we would like to share the answers to some FAQs:

Q: Why did Westlake Hills change from a voluntary to compulsory association? A: We didn't. This association was always intended to be compulsory, but somewhere over the years it was mis-stated that membership was voluntary. We can speculate on how this happened, but the fact remains that Westlake Hills was always intended to be compulsory.

Q: Why did the board call the city on me for infractions (such as trash cans being left out or my basketball hoop in the street)? A: If the board sees someone who is violating the CC&Rs we will attempt to remedy by contacting the homeowner. We never call the city unless a homeowner ignores repeat attempts at our "request for cure".

Q: Will dues go up now that we know our POA is compulsory? A: We have no plans to increase the dues. In fact, our hope is that if we can get compliance with payment where it should be, we will be able to potentially reduce the dues. Right now, the residents who are paying dues have to pay a higher price to compensate for those who have decided not to pay.

Q: What will change now that we are compulsory? A: Our hope is to get more involvement with our residents so we can do community outreach to help residents in need, have more community events, and bring our community together in a way that has more of a family feel but we need your participation to do this!

Q: What do I do if I have an idea? A: Reach out to us either via the website or to a board member directly! We are always looking for new ideas!

Q: What is going on with the mess on the greenbelts? A: The board is in active discussions with CRPD on this problem. They are aware and are working with the contractor to remedy the lack of maintenance his company has provided. They have assured us that it will be remedied quickly, but the board is continuing discussions with higher level individuals at CRPD to ensure this is addressed in an acceptable manner as quickly as possible.
